The Challenge
I have been broken up with…AGAIN.
I seem to have an expiration date of about 3 months (based on my last few “relationships”, at least)
Last night I met up with my new friend, J. As we sat eating nachos, drinking beer, and commiserating he suggested a revolutionary idea,
“Stay single until you turn 24.”
Immediately I dismissed the idea as ludicrous. I love commitment. I love being in a relationship. I love having a boyfriend. I love being a girlfriend. I then realized how ridiculous that sounds. I am young. I should not be falling into commitment after commitment just because it’s available. It shouldn’t be about the titles or statuses —- it should be about two people truly enjoying each others company & becoming better people because of one another.
I have neglected myself while giving, giving, giving to men who don’t give back.
So…I have accepted the challenge: 9 months of commitment free DolceVitaDC!
I can still date & meet new and interesting men BUT the next 9 months are going to be about discovering myself. Working hard, playing hard and NOT jumping into a commitment.
